In the lead-up to Ethiopia’s 2021 general elections, OMNI Ethiopia delivered a nationwide community radio programme to promote peaceful, informed, and inclusive electoral participation.  The programme trained 25 community radio stations and produced over 3,000 broadcast spots in 13 Ethiopian languages.

WHAT THE PROGRAMME DELIVERED

OMNI Ethiopia trained journalists and presenters at community radio stations across Ethiopia, equipping them to produce and broadcast peace-oriented election content that was accurate, balanced, and locally relevant.  More than 3,000 broadcast spots were produced and aired in 13 languages, helping voters across linguistic communities receive consistent messages about peaceful participation and civic responsibility.  The programme also organised town hall election debates in 6 major towns, creating structured spaces for community dialogue around electoral issues.
