Area 01

Media Development

Journalist Training Community Radio Editorial Standards Media Capacity

OMNI Ethiopia works with media institutions, journalists, and community radio stations to strengthen the capacity, standards, and reach of public-interest media in Ethiopia. We design training programmes, produce editorial guides, and support media organisations to produce content that is accurate, inclusive, and locally grounded.

Our media development work covers broadcast, digital, and community platforms — with particular focus on reaching underserved communities and elevating voices that are often excluded from mainstream media.

What this looks like in practice

Training journalists and radio presenters in editorial standards, fact-checking, and responsible reporting

Supporting community radio stations with programming, content strategy, and technical capacity

Producing training handbooks and editorial guides for media practitioners

Building partnerships between media institutions, donors, and civil society organisations

Area 02

Strategic & Advocacy Communication

Campaigns Advocacy Messaging Brand Development Social Media

OMNI Ethiopia designs and implements strategic communication campaigns that support public-interest goals — from national health and financial literacy campaigns to peace messaging and anti-disinformation initiatives. We develop messaging frameworks, creative assets, and multi-platform content strategies grounded in audience research.

Our campaigns are built to reach real audiences — not just produce materials. We work closely with implementing partners to ensure messages land with the communities they are designed to serve.

What this looks like in practice

Developing campaign messaging frameworks, content calendars, and creative briefs

Producing multi-platform content across TikTok, Telegram, Facebook, and broadcast

Coordinating influencer engagement and digital amplification for public-interest campaigns

Building brand identities for programmes, initiatives, and partner organisations

Area 03

Civic & Community Engagement

Peace Dialogue Youth Engagement Community Media Civic Dialogue

OMNI Ethiopia facilitates communication-driven civic and community engagement programmes — bringing together youth, community leaders, and media institutions to build dialogue, strengthen social cohesion, and support peace. We design platforms and processes that enable communities to express, debate, and resolve issues that matter to them.

Our civic engagement work is grounded in the belief that communication is a tool for participation — not just information delivery. We build programmes that create genuine two-way dialogue between citizens, institutions, and decision-makers.

What this looks like in practice

Designing and facilitating structured youth and community dialogue events

Supporting university community radio stations as platforms for civic voice

Running peace messaging campaigns through community radio networks

Connecting community-level conversations to national policy and media coverage

Area 04

Digital Inclusion & Media Literacy

Media Literacy Disinformation Digital Safety Fact-Checking

OMNI Ethiopia works to strengthen digital literacy and counter the spread of misinformation, disinformation, and harmful content online. We design educational campaigns, train community influencers, and build partnerships that promote responsible digital communication — especially among young Ethiopians.

In a rapidly digitising information environment, media literacy is increasingly central to civic life. Our digital inclusion programmes help communities navigate the digital information landscape safely and critically.

What this looks like in practice

Training influencers and community leaders to identify and respond to online misinformation

Producing public education content on digital safety, privacy, and responsible sharing

Building partnerships with platforms, fact-checkers, and civil society on content integrity

Running media literacy programmes in universities, community spaces, and online platforms
